JAMMU – Dec 30, 2018: District Administration Jammu was today able to provide digital land passbooks for legal owners at Seri Khurd, Nagrota and Seri Khurd.
The Revenue Department distributed 23 land passbooks, including 6 in Seri Khurd and 17 in Nagrota.
The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the many benefits of land passbooks and stated that they are true to land records, can be created online, and were therefore very useful.
Additionally, she stated that Land Pass Book entry have the evidentiary worth of record-of rights and public record and are therefore applicable to all purposes and before the courts as well as the financial institutions (including Banks).
The DC described the move as an important step towards improving service delivery and transparency in the Revenue records system. He stated that there are entries in Urdu English, Hindi and Hindi which will help to fill in the information gap and facilitate easy access to the revenue records.
She added that the Land Passbook provides Revenue information for landowners in an easy form. It also acts as a valid document to present to financial institutions.
