Cambodia approves nine investment plans for garment, footwear and travel products

Recently, the Cambodian Investment Board (CDC), approved 11 additional investment proposals. This will create 11,000 new jobs. These companies will receive a $57.3 million total investment. These nine companies are located in the clothing, footwear, and travel goods sector (GFT).

Last year, the CDC approved investments projects in excess of $4.68 Billion. This is an increase by 7 percent compared with 2021.

Cambodian Investment Board, under the Council for the Development of Cambodia has approved eleven additional firms’ investment plans. 11,000 jobs will be created by this board. They will invest a total of $57.3million. The garment, footwear, and travel goods sectors account for nine of the ten. The CDC approved over $4.68 Billion worth of investment projects last year.

Tiens Textile (Cambodia) Co Ltd will open a factory and garment manufacturing facility worth $6.4 million in Kampong Speu. The company is located at Daun Keo village of Samrong Tong, Kampong Speu. All Win Shoes (Cambodia), Co Ltd, will open a factory to produce shoes in this area. This will create 478 new jobs.

Jungkwang Evergreen Garment Co Ltd is opening a factory in Trapeang Thleung 4, Sangkat Choam Chao I and Khan Por Sen Chey. It will employ 2,610 people.

Funday Garment Co Ltd is set to establish a factory in Ang Snuol I district, Kandal province. It will employ 2,047 people.

According to Cambodian media reports, Hanwangda Bags Factory (Cambodia), Co Ltd will provide 2,135 additional jobs in Phnom Sruoch District in Kampong Speu Province.

Everich Outdoor Products (Cambodia), Co Ltd will establish a factory at Kong Pisey and hire 798 people. Bright Lucky Enterprise, Cambodia (Cambodia), Co Ltd, will set up a shoe factory at Ang Takov village.

Hestra (Cambodia) Co Ltd plans to establish a factory that produces leather- and fabric-based sportswear products in the Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone. The investment will be $500,000, and it will create 500 new jobs.

A variety of other companies also received approvals to open factories in Sihanoukville’s special economic area.
