President of BGMEA seeks the cooperation from int’l media to improve RMG sector image

Faruque Hassan of BGMEA says Bangladesh offers world-class workplace safety, as well as sustainable, responsible manufacturing. This makes Bangladesh a popular sourcing option for international buyers and consumers.

“The RMG sector’s transformation has been a significant step forward in recent years, which has helped to strengthen its market position and given buyers and consumers more confidence.”

He said, “Building on our success, industry is continually making efforts to pursue excellence.”

A press release reads that he sought support from the media in order to change the old narrative about Bangladesh’s garment sector by sharing its successes stories and potential. He spoke to journalists from France, including Fashion Network and Marie-Claire while speaking with them.

He said that the media plays a crucial role in Bangladesh’s RMG sector development. Their fact-based criticism allows for improvements while presenting the successes stories inspires them to keep the momentum going.”

Faruque Hassan, President of BGMEA was invited to speak to French media about Bangladesh’s RMG sector during his visit to France for the OECD conference.

He spoke to French media and gave an honest account on why consumers and global brands prefer Bangladesh.

He highlighted RMG’s achievements in safety at work, sustainability, and worker well-being.

The industry has also set a sustainable strategic Vision-2030 to ensure that growth is sustained and positively impacts the environment.

Faruque Hassan talked also about industry’s focus on improving capabilities and integrating new technologies into the manufacturing process. He also discussed the importance of developing and enhancing skills. 

His presentation included an overview of current and future industry priorities. This includes shifting towards greater variety and value-added goods, while also focusing on making production more efficient and sustainable.  

President of BGMEA sought cooperation from international media in order to present positive stories on Bangladesh’s RMG industries, stating that it would boost the sector’s momentum.

French journalists were invited by him to visit Bangladeshi garment factories. They saw the country’s RMG industry progress, modern production techniques, eco-friendly manufacturing processes and best practices, as well as initiatives to improve workers’ health. 

During the media interview with the BGMEA president, Shovon Islam, chair of the BGMEA Standing Committee of Press, Publication and Publicity, was also present.
