Category-wise, knitwear exports slipped by 2.93 per cent year-on-year to $2,803.30 million during the period under review, while exports of non-knit readymade garments were down 1.71 per cent to $2,125.70 million.
The value of textile and garment exports from Pakistan decreased by 8.17 per cent in July-January 2023, the first seven months of fiscal 2022-23 (July-June). According to data from the ministry of commerce, Pakistan made $10.039 billion during this time, which is $10.933 billion more than in July-January 2022.
Textiles: Cotton yarn exports declined by 34.66 percent to $449.42million, and cotton fabric exports fell 9.34 percent to $1,225.35million in July-January 2023. According to data, bedwear exports decreased by 14.81% to $1639.10million during that period.
The import track saw synthetic fibre imports fall by 32.40 percent year-on–year to $301.47 million. Meanwhile, imports for artificial and synthetic silk yarn decreased by 25.44 percent to $373.94 millions.
The value of Pakistani textile machinery imports in July and January 2023 declined by 49% year-on-year, to $257.14 million. This indicates a decline in investment.
The textile and clothing exports to Pakistan in fiscal 2021-22, which ended June 30, increased 25.53 percent to $19.329 Billion over the $15.399 Billion of previous fiscal. The exports amount to $12.526 million in the fiscal 2019-20.
