In garment shipment, 43kg heroin was found

Customs officers at Suvarnabhumi searched packages bound for Hong Kong.

According to customs officials, they discovered more than 43 kg of heroin worth 107.5 millions baht in hilltribe clothes bound for Hong Kong.

According to Patchara Annultasilp (director-general, Customs Department), the discovery was made Monday at Suvarnabhumi’s airport. It involved officials suspicious of 29 boxes that were destined for Hong Kong.

These boxes contained home appliances, clothing, and cosmetics.

Six boxes were initially searched by officials who found shirts and waistties in hilltribe style. Officials decided to tear down the shirt sleeves because they were too thick.

Officials found heroin in the fabric packets hidden within the sleeves and waistties. According to Mr Patchara, after all clothing were examined, officials found 43.4 kilograms of heroin at 107.5 million Thai baht.
