Exports of Turkish garments to Saudi Arabia have increased threefold by 2022

Following the death of Jamal Khashoggi in 2018, Turkiye’s exports of garments to Saudi Arabia increased sharply. Tense relations between the countries have impacted bilateral trade. This includes garment exports. Both countries took steps to improve their relations and have seen a threefold rise in exports of garments since 2022. 

Exports of garments from Turkiye, Saudi Arabia to Saudi Arabia fell to $172.870million in 2020, as compared with the shipment value of $268.612 millions in 2019. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, trade suffered severe consequences. Trade has been positive because of the efforts made by both countries to normalize their relations. Leaders’ visits also played an important role in the normalisation of relations. Exports of garments were negligible up to mid-2022. The shipment value was only $5.038million in Q2 2022. This increased dramatically to $23.231million in Q3 of 2022, and $30.231million in Quarter 4 of 2022.
