NEW YORK – In recent months, a flurry worker protest videos has surfaced on Douyin, the Chinese equivalent of TikTok, as weakening supply and demand chain pressures put increased strain on factories in the country.
An anonymous user, Jingjing’s memory posted the video in early this year. It shows factory workers outside the Huijuchang Textile gate in Jiangyin. The text overlaid onto the video reads: “The factory I worked for more than 20 years has closed, and now I don’t have any money or social security.”
