Thane, November 4 (PTI). Police registered a case on two individuals, including a female, who allegedly cheated a Maharashtra garment producer in Bhiwandi district by Rs 55 lakh. The accused allegedly bought the goods, but never paid for them, according to an official.
According to him, the complaint in this case is a resident of Kamatghar near Bhiwandi.
“The accused woman, who owns a fabrics unit in Mumbai, and her manager purchased garments worth more than Rs 69.37 lakh on credit from the complainant between October 2022 and January 2023. But they paid only Rs 13.99 lakh to him so far,” the official of Narpoli police station said.
He said that despite repeated reminders the couple failed to pay him the remaining amount and was duped to the tune Rs 55.38 lakh.
According to the police, a complaint was filed against the accused under Indian Penal Code sections 406 (criminal breaches of trust), 420 (cheating) and section 34 (common intentions) based on their complaints. PTI COR
