Mike Pinto, an FBI agent and Dave Deitsch were on hand to talk to students at West Geauga High School about the FBI. This was part of an inter-school field trip.

Information for Students about the FBI

Mike Pinto, an FBI agent and Dave Deitsch spoke to students at West Geauga High School about the FBI during an in-school fieldtrip. The combined experience of the two agents is over 25 years. Deitsch works for the Washington, D.C. violent crimes taskforce, while Pinto has worked in counterterrorism operations in the Middle East, Africa. The agents also shared some of their personal stories, and described the processes used by the agency to protect the home front. Both agents were very grateful to the high school for this unique opportunity.

College and Career Week

Eighth grade students from West Geauga took time to plan their futures at College and Career Week. The event featured special events like videos, trivia, and spirit days. It also included a day full of presentations. Michael Archiable (West Geauga High school alumnus) was the featured speaker. He spoke candidly about his life and encouraged students not to give up on their dreams.

More than 20 experts filled the classrooms with their stories in small groups. Excel TECC high school students presented on their programs. Eighth-graders enjoyed the day and were enthusiastic to learn about all of the different options that could be available.

GameCON Celebrated by WGMS

GameCON is the culmination activity in the middle school technology program. Students have worked on 3D design, coding and digital media editing for three years. Students will be able to complete more complex and challenging activities each year as they progress in the program. GameCON is a program that requires students to create original games and 3D printed copies based on them. Students also need to use Photoshop to design posters, ads, logos and covers for video games. This year, students were even able to print logo T-shirts with the school’s new garment printer.
