DESIGNER OF STRUCTURAL PAACKAGING

SOUTH EAST

Salary £35-£40K + 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays

Hours: Mon to Thurs – 8.30am till 5pm & Friday – 9am till 3pm

Our client is a leader in Bespoke, Creative, Printed Packaging based out of the South East. Their clients include major retailers as well as ecommerce experts such Supermarkets and Brands. The company offers end-to-end service from conception through delivery through its in-house design studio.

This company seeks a Packaging Design Designer to join its Design Team. As the Packaging Design Section Head, you will have the responsibility of leading the Design Department. The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm and hardwork.

The following are the key responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the direction of the Packaging Design Section of the Design Department
  • Your enthusiasm, drive and hard work will make you a great candidate for the job.
  • The company CAD System will be operated by you using Impact software. A ZUND carton plotter is also included.
  • The Product Development team will work directly with you to create cost-effective and creative seasonal packaging solutions.
  • You will need to have a good understanding of CAD.
  • A specific understanding of Impact, Arden, or Artios’ CAD systems is highly beneficial
  • High quality packaging samples will be needed, regardless of whether they are white prototypes or fully-coloured samples to be approved by brand/retailer.
  • Carton drawings will be required for costing purposes.
  • The role requires a lot administration, therefore IT skills are essential.
  • The Roland Large Format UV-printer will require you to also spend time in the Print Department.
  • For client-ready mock-ups, you will need to print packs that have been created by designers. Although you will receive full instruction in how to use the machine and its operation, it is beneficial for those with previous experience.
  • Our Product Development team will work directly with you on VAP, seasonal and AYR packaging briefs. They’ll help create innovative solutions while keeping them cost-effective to make.
  • It is an important role, especially given the seasonal nature our business. This can sometimes make life very stressful. This role requires attention to details under stress.
  • A Packaging Designer role requires a high level of accuracy as well as the ability to retain your composure when under pressure.
  • It is essential to think on your feet, and be able to work with minimal briefs.
  • This role requires creativity and forward-thinking.

Requirements:

  • A good CAD understanding, particularly Impact, Arden and Artios
  • For sample production, you will need to be able to use a CAD table
  • Use of computers and IT skills
  • Capability to create creative solutions while keeping costs down
  • Great communication skills, both verbally and in team settings
  • Working at team and individual levels with a systematic and organized approach
