Free trade pact between India and UAE will increase exports to the garment sector. AEPC

According to AEPC, the free trade agreement between India & UAE gives duty-free access to the garment industry and will increase the country’s share in exports.

Apparel Export Promo Council (AEPC), stated that more than 20 national exporters participated in the International Apparel and Textile fair (IATF), in Dubai, to show their products. Ashok Rajani (CEO Fair and Exhibitions AEPC) stated that India is second in terms of exports of ready-made clothing to the UAE, after China.

“The UAE is the most important trading partner in India for garment exports,” he said. He said that this share was expected to grow further with the UAE-India CEPA Agreement, giving Indian garment exports duty-free access.

CEPA is the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.

He spoke about the event and said that exporters want to show the very best Indian apparel styles and designs.

Rajani said that there are huge business opportunities available for UAE-based clothing companies to source materials from India due to the country’s strengths in terms of availability of raw materials and others. Rajani spoke out about the advantages of the Indian garment industry. After having been established in traditional clothing, it has moved to newer MMF areas with a segment of technical textiles worth USD 16 Billion and a 6% share of global markets.
