Afsaneh Mehrabi, director general of the weaving and garment industries department of the industry, mining and trade ministry, said that reviving 405 idle units and establishing 138 new units is also on the government’s agenda this year.

“We are now almost self-sufficient in the supply of some raw materials, such as cotton yarns and only two percent of acrylic yarns are imported due to the need for color diversity, especially in export products,” Mehrabian was quoted as saying by an Iranian newspaper report.

In the Iranian calendar year that ends on March 20, 2023, the ministry plans to increase its garment exports by $84 million.

Agreements with the Textile Industries Association revealed that the National Petrochemical Company was able to increase its production which in turn reduced yarn’s price.
