Mills Clothing Co. marks its 1st year

By Isabella Zarate

Jenny Mills, wife, mom, and once employed in the field of medical devices has taken on a new title – entrepreneur.

Mills was home with her boys after the pandemic. Mills found that she was always wanting more.

“What am I going to do when my 4-year-old goes to kindergarten next year,” Mills wondered.

Mills was not a believer in being a stay at-home mother with no children. Mills began to think of ways she could entertain herself. Mills Clothing Co. was formed.

The question of what to do had been in the back of Mill’s mind for a little over a year, and with that, the idea of designing t-shirts.

Things really started to take off once Mills opened her doors for her next adventure. “September fifteenth I made my first sale.”

“It has been so busy,” she added, “And I’m so thankful.”

In just two short months, Mills has found herself in a whirlwind of sorts.“I never imagined I would be this busy this fast.”

According to Mills, Mills Clothing Co. specializes in designing “any garment that can be printed on.”

Mills has the ability to make shirts, sweatshirts and tank tops as well as masks.

While this newfound path seems a far stretch from Mills’ previous road, she attributes the idea to both her dad and her creativity. Mills told how her dad owned a sign printing company, and that he was often involved in making shirts. “I would always help him.”

“I kind of knew what I was getting into before getting into,” she said.

Mills acknowledged her creative side, despite her early experiences. “I’ve always been a really crafty person.”

“I’ve always just had that part of me that wanted to make things with my hands.” Mills went on, “I have a need to do that, it’s fulfilling.”

As for the technique, Mills’ creations are the product of sublimation printing. Sublimation printing is the process wherein the ink is applied to the clothing and not absorbed into it.

Mills explained, “ “it won’t peel or crack with washes, it’s just always there.” Furthermore, “If you run your finger over the garment you don’t feel anything.”

At this point, the majority of Mill’s products include Bulldog spirit wear and holiday-themed collections.
