Mike Simson bought Evergreen Printing 8 years ago from his parents.

Evergreen Printing can be found on 19th SE, two blocks from Costco.

As a teenager in high school Mike Simpson worked at his parent’s (Mel and Kim Simpson), print shop on Evergreen Way just south of the A&W Drive In. He worked there until the shop was moved to 50th Avenue Claremont. After five years, it finally moved to its present location at 10530 19th Avenue SE. “We were the first tenants when this building opened,” Mike told me on my recent visit.

Mike and Susanna purchased the shop eight years ago from their parents. They’ve guided their growth and stability over the years by a simple principal,

“The better our customers do, the better we do,” Mike said. “Their success is our success.”

Local printers are constantly undercut by large online printing companies.

“It’s hard to compete online so customer service is big for us,” Mike said. “We know our customers and they know us, we’re a personal local phone call away and we make sure that once you come here you never want to go anywhere else.”

Evergreen provides full-color digital printing and high speed copying. They also offer bindery, mailing services, and other services. They also offer delivery and pick-up in the Everett area Monday – Friday.

The Pandemic caused them to be unable to keep their doors open, however they were still affected as most of their customers were small businesses. Some were forced to shut down and others were forced out. “Forty percent of our customers went out of business permanently,” Mike said. “My wife and I weathered the storm by working throughout, no vacations and not paying ourselves for a while, staying small, lean and working our way through it.”

Supply chain problems remain today as a legacy of the pandemic. “Our main supplier of envelopes has been out for some time,” Mike explained. “They shifted from producing paper to making cardboard boxes for all of the shipping that has been going on and we’ve had to scrounge and scrape to find envelopes.”

Mike remains positive about the Everett printing business. He says he’s still having fun and enjoying helping other business owners. They’ve been voted the best print shop in Snohomish County and embrace “keeping it local”.
