Dead River Coffee is hosting a clothing swap for NMU students

MARQUETTE (WLUC), Mich. – Three NMU students organized and conducted a clothing exchange at Dead River Coffee on Sunday in Marquette.

It started at 9am and continued until 3pm.

Participants could bring their clothes and trade them, though eventgoers didn’t need to drop off any clothes to take any. All remaining clothing will be donated locally to thrift shops.

Madie Löbeig (NMU senior) and McKenna Bryce (NMU junior), were the three NMU students that organized this event. Loebig states that Dead River Coffee’s Sloan Dorr left this event to the students and provided only space.

Loebig also ran a jewelry booth alongside the clothing exchange. Loebig has run pop-up jewellery stands for over half a decade.

“It’s an affordable and accessible way for students to do an activity in town and it’s nice that it’s a rainy day as this is something to do,” says Loebig “And It’s getting new clothes for the season and getting out things you didn’t want.”

It was attended by nearly 100 students, who deemed it to be a successful event. In the future, they hope to host another event.
