EOS adopts Materialise CO-AM as a tool for internal and external sintering production.

EOS Has adopted Materialise’s CO-AM uses the CO-AM platform software to manage its internal and additive manufacturing process engineering.

It expects that the platform will improve traceability, connectivity, and efficiency in AM production at its worldwide facilities.

EOS operates production centers in Germany, USA and APAC to meet internal requirements and offer support services for application engineers. CO-AM is used to help EOS plan, manage and optimize every stage of 3D printing. EOS’s existing infrastructure will include data and customer relation management software. The platform software will then be linked to the fleet of EOS equipment. This software will be used to support EOS’ AM workflow. It can manage orders, production scheduling and monitor builds.

EOS’ CO-AM Scheduler will allow them to view both actual and planned printer activity to improve their utilisation rate. Materialise’s AMWatch software will also enable engineers and operators monitor the status of build progress and collect process data in order to reduce scrap and quality control. EOS staff will be able access shop floor data via an iOS application. This can be used for monitoring unpacking, post-processing and depowdering in real time.

“It is critical that tools such as CO-AM are able to provide improvements in the efficiency of AM production that outweigh the cost of using the tool,” commented Trevor Kirsten, Head of Digital Manufacture at EOS. “With enhanced connectivity and traceability in CO-AM, we aim to improve efficiency in our production process by reducing powder consumption and the number of machines required for our operations.”

“One of the primary benefits of the CO-AM platform is the open and flexible architecture that allows companies to integrate the software with their existing manufacturing technology and adapt it to their needs,” added Jim Carlson, Head of Global Customer Success at Materialise. “EOS and Materialise share a long partnership and we are looking forward to collaborating with them to create a more efficient and connected additive workflow.”
