Fashionite 2022 – Indian Institute Of Fashion Technology Concludes

Indian Institute of Fashion Technology, a Limca book record holder conducted its 19th Fashionite 2022 on the theme ‘Shadow of Style’. The unique Annual Fashion Show featured a total of 144 designs from their talented 73 artists. These were displayed by 27 models at Bangalore’s Chowdiah Memorial Hall. On the cold evening of November 25, 2022, it was a night of celebration for over 1000 people. It began with the lighting of a lamp by dignitaries who were present at this do.

 Ms.Sandhya, Dr.Gopinath, and Rtn.Subhashini served as Chief Guests. Ms. Viji, the Chief Academic Officer for IIFT, welcomed distinguished guests. She was greeted by respectful parents and energetic academic trainers. Students and other world media professionals were also present.

 Based on criteria like justice to theme and swatch selections as well as color aesthetics, innovative silhouettes and presentation of collections with accessories or styling, the jury selected 15 finalist from 73 applicants.

 There were many themes to the show: Traditional, Ethnic and Western as well as Indo-Western, Greeks, Egyptians, Tribal Art, as well as other art forms. There were many messages conveyed by the colors. The fabrics used ranged from Velvet, Lycra, Taffeta, Barso, Chiffon, Georgette, Silk, Jersey, Glass Tissue, Brocades, Jute silk, Drill, Netted fabrics & many more fabrics that are in trend, some of the garment designs were highly accessorized with headgears, Handmade jewellery, Handmade Footwear & some of the designs had highly intricate embellishment and surface ornamentation such as Zardozi work, Kundan work, bead work, Aari work, patch work, Quilling, traditional Indian embroideries, painting & printing were incorporated to present trends combining the materials from different states.

The First category of Awards was for IIFT Best Designer of the Year 2022 and was bagged by Ms. Surpritha M G, Second category of Awards won by Mr. Yathish S L, ‘BEST FASHION ILLUSTRATOR & DESIGNER’ was won by Ms.Niharika B R, Best Designer Award in B.Sc Fashion & Apparel Design was won by Mr.Charlee Vishal L, Second Runner up for Best Designer Award was won Ms. Nischitha Y ’. The next category of award was for ‘BEST DESIGNER-NON TEXTILE and was won by  Ms. N V Varshini, The Third category of Awards were won by Ms. Shwetha H R  & Ms. Geetha Priya G.

The First Runner up for Best Designer Award was won by Greeshma S for her theme ‘PAITHANI’ inspired by ‘MAHARASHTRIAN TEXTILE’. Sambavi S was awarded the second runner-up award.

An award ceremony was held to recognize BSc rank holders. Their wards, and their loved ones displayed creativity in a way that was captivating and delightful to the audience. This show was an eye-opener, featuring models, designers, and National Celebrities. 

The IIFT Spokesperson said, ‘We are proud yet spellbound by the creativity of our students, we wish them all the best for their future endeavours. Let them take over the fashion world one design at time.

Show ended with a Vote of thanks by Ms. Seema Savio, Principal of IIFT College of Fashion. All the designers received Prestigious IIFT certificates and mementos in appreciation of their immense effort and hard work.
