Foreign cloth seized

LANDIKOTAL. Officials have announced that Pakistan Customs and Frontier Corps (FC personnel participated in a joint effort to stop a plan to smuggle thousands of rupees worth of garment rolls across the Torkham border crossing.

Amjadur Rakhman, Chief Collector Customs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa told reporters they had obtained credible information to stop a truck that was entering Pakistan through Afghanistan’s Torkham border.

According to him, the truck with coal was searched. Foreign-origin suits fabrics of 3575 kgs were found. He estimated that the garments seized had a value of Rs11.1million in the open market. Under the coal truck’s load, the cloth rolls were hidden. The truck was also confiscated by custom authorities and the driver arrested.
