The owners of a garment factory are charged with homicide after a fire.

The Quezon City Police District has, after almost a full month of investigations, filed criminal charges against the owners of a fire that destroyed a garment factory located in a residential neighborhood. 15 people were killed. Mayor Joy Belmonte confirmed that the QCPD had filed complaints on Wednesday of reckless imprudence resulting multiple homicides against MGC Wearhouse Inc. namely Catherine Sy and Lina Cavilte. The QCPD took time in filing the complaint because they had to track down the family members of the victims to obtain their statement. The factory located at No. 68 Kenny Drive, Pleasant View, in Barangay Tandang Sora at 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 31. The majority of those 15 people who perished were workers staying in the house and carpenters. Michael John Cavilte (44), one of the house owners, died as well.
