Angul fire guts Garments Worth Rs 20 Lakh


Bhubaneswar, Garments worth Rs. 20 lakh destroyed by fire in shop at Angul village in Odisha.

Sources claimed that the inferno also decimated two more 2-Whleers.

Fire broke out at garments shop ‘Mangalam’ at Shankar Cinema Road of Angul town due to a short-circuit at around 6 pm in the evening, said a local.

“There were around 10 customers inside the shop during the incident. There were no fire extinguishers in the shop. In just a few moments, the whole shop was enveloped by the flames. Customers and staff managed to escape the shop unharmed. However, two bikes parked in front of the shop caught fire,” he added.

Fire Brigade crews arrived on the scene with three fire engines and were informed.

“The garment shop did not have fire safety measures. As per preliminary assessment, garments worth around Rs 20 lakh were destroyed in the showroom fire,” said Sukanta Nath, a Fire Brigade official.
