Katie Holmes has made the case for pants with animal patterns. I am open to hearing her. The actor-producer attended the recent Michael Kors show in New York looking every inch the fashion professional…with one small exception. Holmes wore a black turtleneck with blazer and side-parting her hair. You can see her as Kate Middleton if you look closely.
The pants are a bit wilder. You’ll notice tiny sequins on the shirt, which is a mix of zebra-striped patterns and black-and white marbled. They are so comfortable, it’s hard to believe they can be seated in them. But the design is stunning.
Holmes was seated between Alan Cumming, whose Insta-worthy book Holmes loved, and Kate Hudson. Mindy Kaling, Anna Wintour, and Mindy Kaling were also nearby. Wintour was wearing a long, floor-length snakeskin jacket. We are reading the fashion signals loudly: Animal. Prints. Are. In.
Gotta say, this look is miles better than that blouse-dress-over-jeans thing that was happening a few months back. The look is definitely not for everyone. Dawson’s Creek For decades star was a classic denim-wearing icon. However, it’s interesting to see how she changes her mind and trades in jeans for something more stylish. She wore a pair of gold, wide-leg pants that looked even more shiny than the ones she had just a month before. You know who “wears the pants” in Katie Holmes’s life? Katie does. Hopefully, she keeps doing so until NYC heats up, at which point we predict she’ll be back to “Sky’s out, thighs out.” Yep, she was on the no-pants trend months before these starlets, many of whom could learn a thing or two about elevated basics from her.
BRB! I have to get my top with cheetah print out of my wardrobe.
