LuxCreo launches LuxAlign®: First FDA-class II, 510(k) cleared, direct print clear aligner end-to-end workflow, with integrated product and service solution for same-day aligners

The iLux Pro Dental 3D Printer, iLuxCure Pro, UV Cure Box, Direct Aligner Material (DCA), LuxAlign Design Software, and LuxScale – An Offsite Aligner Production Service – were all unveiled during AAO.

LuxCreo Inc., a 3D specialist in clear dental appliances and a leader in 3D printing, today announced an FDA Class II (510(k)-cleared end-to-end system for orthodontists. This solution allows them to make same-day, clear aligners by skipping the traditional models and thermoforming steps. Orthodontists, dentists and other dental professionals can deliver aligners within 2 hours of an oral scanning. This method saves significant capital and labor costs compared with in-house thermoforming.

After 5 years of working with dentists, orthodontists and dental laboratories, we’re excited to announce our digital suite of tools for direct aligners.” said LuxCreo CEO Mike Yang. LuxCreo’s direct-print aligners are more accurate than thermoformed options, which may result in better fit for the patient. Furthermore, the multi-thickness technique we have developed is patent-pending and allows us to customize teeth movements according to individual patient needs.

Fortune Business Insights predicted that in January 2023 the clear aligner global market would skyrocket, from $4.1 Billion in 2022 up to $16.1 Billion in 2029. Despite this growth, LuxCreo estimates that 5-10% of aligner treatments are canceled by patients due to lengthy initial aligner lead times—up to 6 weeks. LuxAlign’s platform is designed to address these concerns, and allows patients the opportunity to try their first set of aligners within 2 hours from intraoral scans at a dentist’s office.

LuxCreo has launched a range of hardware, software and materials to deliver a same-day direct aligners capability. This will enable an end-to-end seamless workflow that includes:

  • iLux Pro Dental: A high throughput, small footprint, heated, chairside DLP printer with 50-micron pixel resolution powered by LEAP™ technology. One iLux Pro Dental printer can print 175 horizontally or 64 direct alignmenters during an 8 hour shift.

  • LuxAlign® design software: Automatically generate retainer aligner designs. Add trimlines, fix tooth gaps and change the thickness of aligners to enhance patient comfort and aligner efficacy.

  • iLuxCure Pro: The high-irradiance cure is multi-wavelength and multi-direction programmable. It can cure up to 6-8 aligners per 30 minutes.

  • Direct clear Aligner (DCA), also known as DCA, is a material that allows for direct alignment. DCA is a tough, flexible, and accurate clear aligner material with high transparency without manual polishing, enabled by LuxCreo’s Digital Polishing™ technology. DCA was FDA Class II cleared 510(k). It is approved for aligner use.

  • LuxScale: Once the initial aligner is approved by patients, dentists are able to order and modify any remaining aligner treatments from LuxCreo’s smart factory.

The iLux Pro Dental software and LuxAlign have been a huge game changer in my dental practice. I no longer need to thermoform models and then cut aligners. LuxAlign is saving my practice between 60-75% of labor costs, compared with the traditional workflow. It has also reduced my patient’s waiting time. Dr. Mike Pham CEO of Affordable Dental.

You can order the iLux Pro Dental and iLuxCure Pro now, and they will be shipped next month.

LuxCreo is also actively looking for participants to help validate multi-thickness alignment technology. To learn more, please visit LuxCreo’s booth #695 during the AAO conference in Chicago between April 21-24. You can also visit our website.
