Before the Leeds game on May 6, Manchester City FC is urging fans to donate any used clothes to City Square at Etihad Stadium, where club icons Joleon Lescott and Shaun Wright-Phillips will be on hand to recycle them as part of Puma’s RE:FIBRE campaign to decrease waste.

Supporters who donate to the cause can win prizes such as tickets for the Tunnel Club in the coming season. They also help the environment.

If supporters are unable to attend the Leeds game, they may still give by using Puma’s “take-back bins” in the Manchester City stadium store any day of the week.

Recycling is possible for any clothing, regardless of the brand or material. Items that have been freshly washed are also acceptable. All types of clothing are accepted except swimwear and socks.

Each item of clothing will not be thrown out, but instead upcycled to create something brand new.

By 2025, all Puma garments and accessories will use 75 per cent more recycled polyester overall (by weight) as part of the company’s most recent environmental initiatives.

These projects are important because they help to convert clothing and other waste materials into new items. Re:FIBRE’s sustainable collection of fabrics are made from at least 95 percent recycled polyester and textiles.
