DTF printing has been a popular method in textile and apparel industries, especially in wearable printing. It is often used for T-shirt printing. DTF printing involves the first print of the design directly onto a special transfer film. Next, hot-melt powder is added to the printed film and heated until it dries. This creates a transferable ink layer. To complete the product, the ink layer formed is transferred onto the fabric using a heat press.
The Mimaki TxF150-75 is an inkjet printer with a maximum printing width of 80 cm (31.5”) for producing DTF print transfer sheets. PHT50 heat-transfer pigment ink for DTF applications is available in five colors (CMYK, white), and will be awarded the ECO PASSPORT certificate by March 2023. This certification is vital for complying with the international textile safety standard OEKOTEX. Mimaki’s degassing ink has been developed to address the problems of ink leakage and white ink blockage that previously plagued DTF printers.
