North Star Boutique is now open in Chattanooga’s North Shore neighbourhood

Josselyn Nielsen, a mother to two daughters herself, said that she often found it difficult to find clothing styles that were both affordable and more modest than the ones she was seeing in most shops.

Nielsen was shopping for prom dresses for her youngest daughter and said that it took her a while to find the appropriate attire for her age.

Nielsen announced her plans, “I had just felt a pit in the stomach and God told me to do something about it.”

The Navy veteran, a native of New York and a Navy Veteran who now lives in Chattanooga, will open a North Shore boutique that she claims will reflect the unique beauty in every woman.

North Star Boutique, located next to Whole Foods at 313 Manufacturers Rd. is Nielsen’s first boutique of 650 feet. It will open at 10 am Friday. The goal: To help women feel better about themselves.

Nielsen is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She stated, “When you enter the store, you will realize that your divinely created.” Your talents, attributes and personality are what make you unique. Your outfit is only as good as you. It is what you think about yourself that matters the most.”

The majority of dresses and other clothing she sells in her boutique are priced between $30 and $100. Her goal is to raise funds and get donations so that they can provide clothing to girls facing financial difficulties.

She is not only thinking of her daughters in her shop, but also her grandchildren.

Body positivity is a condition that affects many women of all ages. There are many problems with body shame and mental health. “I have this sense of responsibility,” she stated. I need to make sure that the young generation, and all women in general, realizes how important inner beauty is.

This store will remain open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Josselyn’s husband Tim Nielsen said that Josselyn has the spiritual gift of talking to people and making them feel good about themselves. “She is able to see and bring out good.”

Josselyn Nielsen stated that she hopes everyone who visits North Star Boutique will feel good.

“I want your confidence to shine through, I want you see that smile and sparkle in your eyes.
