China’s Garment Exports to Pakistan Increase 33 Percent in 2022

BEIJING, March 11 (UrduPoint/ Pakistan Point News, 11 Mar 2023) : Pakistan’s exports of garments to China increased by 33% over the last year, which represents a major milestone in strengthening economic ties, stated GhulamQadir, Pakistan Embassy Beijing Commercial Counsellor.

The increasing demand in China for Pakistani menswear is responsible for the increase in exports. This is due to rising disposable incomes as well as changing fashion trends. He said that Chinese companies are trusting Pakistan more as a supplier of high-quality textiles and clothing at affordable prices. This trend was also supported by initiatives like free trade agreements, which have helped increase trade between both countries.

According to him, Pakistani men’s clothing exports to China each year in 2022 was $28.66million, an increase of nearly 33% from 2021 when it was $21.62million. While it stood at $17.94million in 2021, the most popular item for men and boys was still cotton trousers for men or boys, with community code (61034200), which is worth $17.94million. Similar to the above, trousers for men and boys with community code (62034290) are valued at $7.22million, while this product was $6.55 million exported from Pakistan in 2021. A long-time participant in the textile industry, Muhammad Ameen Nathani (Chairman of Combine Group) stated that Pakistan has seen its textile exports to China increase dramatically over recent years.

The increased production capability and the rising demand in China for Pakistani clothing is what has led to this increase. The increased demand for Pakistani clothing by Chinese men has resulted from Chinese customers and businesses who are now more aware of the high quality Pakistani goods.

According to him, this increase in exports was a testimony to Pakistan’s strength and ability to comply with global standards. The bilateral trade between China and Pakistan has been growing rapidly, which demonstrates how China is becoming a more important trading partner. As more businesses discover the advantages of purchasing their clothes from Pakistan, this trend will only continue.

Also, Pakistan’s economy will benefit from this increase in exports. This will allow for more foreign exchange and boost the country’s GDP. The increased exports will also create jobs for the locals.
