Thousands of children’s robes, PJs recalled for potential burn hazard

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Thousands of children’s pajamas and robes are being recalled, because the items fail to meet the federal flammability standards for children’s sleepwear, posing a risk of burn injuries to children, according to recall notices from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The recalls include sets of Paper Cape children’s pajamas, as well as four sets of children’s robes sold on Amazon.com.

Here’s a closer look at each recall.

PAJAMAS REVISED

About 5,720 children’s pajamas sold by Paper Cape were recalled for not meeting flammability standards.

The recall involves two styles of Paper Cape children’s PJs made from 100% Pima cotton — two-piece, long-sleeved Classic Pajamas and Classic Footless Pajama Sleepers. Both styles were sold in children’s sizes 12 months through 12 years.

There were 17 different colors and styles available for the two-piece, long-sleeved Classic Pajamas. Classic Footless Pajama Sleepers came in 16 colors and prints.

These items were not used to cause any injuries or incidents.

They were sold online at www.papercape.com and at various children’s boutiques nationwide from November 2018 through November 2022 for between $45 and $58.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled children’s pajamas away from youth, stop using them, and contact Paper Cape for a full refund or a refund in the form of store credit for the original purchase price, plus 10%. Consumers should destroy the recalled children’s pajamas by cutting them in half and then send Paper Cape a photo of the destroyed garment. Paper Cape will contact all buyers directly.

RECALLED ROBES

Robes by ChildLikeMe

This recall involves children’s 100% polyester plush fleece hooded robes with a sewn-in side seam belt and two functional front pockets. According to CPSC the robes were sold as sizes 5-12 in the following colours: white with dinosaurs and pink with brown polka dots.

There have not been any injuries.

These robes can be bought online at Amazon.com between June 2021 and August 2022. Prices range from $11 to $17.

Children should be asked to immediately return the recalled robes and notify ChildLikeMe. Consumers should immediately destroy the robes and cut them in half. Then, email ChildLikeMe photos of the garments to [email protected]. ChildLikeMe is contacting every known buyer directly through Amazon.

Robes SGMWVB

Recall involves 100% polyester robes. These robes had a front seam belt with sewn in, a jacket, and two pockets. Sizes 2T-10Y were offered in the following colours and pattern options: blue, plaid and red rose; blue shark and green dinosaur.

There have not been any injuries.

From January 2022 until June 2022, the items were available online at amazon.com. Prices ranged from $14 to $17.

Consumers are asked to immediately remove the recalled robes from their children and stop using them. SGMWVB is available for a full reimbursement. The robes purchased by consumers will need to be destroyed by having them cut in half. SGMWVB will then require a photograph of the robe that has been destroyed. SGMWVB, Amazon will contact all customers directly.

Betusline official apparel robes

One set of recalled robes involves children’s 100% polyester robes sold by Betusline Official Apparel on Amazon.com. Made of 100% polyester, the long-sleeved garments were sold in sizes from 12 to 18 months. They feature a strawberry pattern, a side seam belt with sewn in closures, front pockets, and a hood. The sewn-in neck label displays the garment’s size.

There have not been any injuries.

These items were available exclusively at www.amazon.com between January 2022 and April 2022, for prices between $22 to $28

Consumers are asked to immediately remove the recall robes from their children and stop using them. Consumers who purchased the garments from Amazon.com will be contacted through Amazon’s messaging platform.

BTPEIHTD robes

One set of recalled robes involves children’s 100% polyester robes sold by BTPEIHTD on Amazon.com.

These robes came with a side seam belt that was sewn in, a hood and two front pockets. They may also have come with matching slippers. They were sold in sizes 3T-14 Years and in the following print patterns and colors: black, grey, rose, pink and white; as well as in sizes 3T-14 years.

According to CPSC there were no injuries.

From August 2020 to June 2022 the clothing was sold online by Amazon.com for $16-$25.

Consumers are asked to immediately remove the recalled robes from their children and stop using them. BTPEIHTD will then issue a full refund. The purchasers of these robes are asked to immediately destroy them by cutting in half the garments and sending an email with a photograph showing the destroyed garment. BTPEIHTD, Amazon and other sellers are reaching out directly.
