Unofficial Approved: Helly Hanson Kids’ Rider 2.0 Insulated Snow Suit

When shopping for kids’ ski gear, there is one brand that cannot be overlooked. Helly Hansen is a Norwegian brand that makes ski clothes for youths and adults. They make garments that are durable and highly technical. For youth apparel, which has some very specific criteria, this is especially important.

A standout among their great line of kids’ ski gear is the Kids’ Rider 2.0 Insulated Snow Suit. For starters, it’s a one-piece ski suit, so there’s less opportunity for us parents to forget a jacket or pants back at the cabin.  The best part is that the ski suit’s one-piece design means kids can roll and tumble in the snow, without snow getting into their base and middle layers. It allows for winter fun all day long in snow and ice, while keeping the kids warm and dry.

The garment’s design is also very practical. There are plenty of pockets that can be used to stash snacks and other ski-essential items for kids. Durable material is used to make it durable enough to last multiple seasons. It can also be passed on to siblings.

“This fully weatherproof, insulated snow suit enables kids to get outside and stay outside in deep winter. Our trusted HELLY TECH® Performance 2-layer fabric system is waterproof/breathable and windproof. With the planet in mind, we used light and warm PrimaLoft® BLACK Eco insulation made from 100% recycled content. To maximize the multi-season usage of young adventurers, we reinforced the bottom hems, seat and knees. Additional features include high visibility elements and reflective for visibility in low light.” – Helly Hansen

Another aspect of the Kids’ Rider 2.0 Insulated Snow Suit that we find very thoughtful is the bright fluorescent colors on the shoulders and hood of the garment. It allows skiers to see how the children are moving downhill, reducing the likelihood of collisions.

When our product tester Thomas was asked what he thought of the Snow Suit, he said, “I like it. It keeps me warm.” When asked to elaborate, he said (with a big smile), “I don’t know, I just like it. The thing is cool. And has hidden suspenders inside.”
