Unspun’s New Artist Collaboration Supports Planned Parenthood – Sourcing Journal

Unspun’s new collection highlights technology’s future in fashion.

The apparel tech company launched Thursday a collaboration with Portuguese graphic designer and illustrator Bráulio Amado. The limited-edition collection combines Amado’s irreverent approach to prints with Unspun’s body scan technology through the company’s app.

New York City-based Amado has a reputation for vibrant and kinetic artwork across many mediums, including posters, album covers, editorial illustrations, videos, and other media. He’s previously collaborated with musicians from Beck and Frank Ocean to Róisín Murphy and Robyn.

“Like Unspun, Bráulio’s work is personal and full of individual character,” said Annika Visser, Unspun brand lead. “We were drawn to his graphic prints across various mediums and liked that his work was unique and had a signature flair to it.”

Consumers have the choice to add one of three exclusive prints designed by Amado to three styles of Unspun jeans:  wide leg, straight fit and classic straight. Amado selected the styles and washes. All jeans are made from 100 percent organic cotton.

The prints were “inspired by post-punk, psychedelic, space and the future,” Visser added. Each one is printed onto jeans using Jeanologia’s laser finishing technology. Kornit prints the graphics and patches using direct-to garment printing.

Jeans are $250 and a portion of proceeds goes to Planned Parenthood.

This collection will be on sale until Nov. 17.
